Jim Kirchherr examines the history of Annie Malone. In 1917, Annie Malone of Peoria Illinois built the Poro college building, headquarters for her flourishing African American hair and beauty empire. She is most famous for being community developer and supporter, her charity, the Annie Malone Children and family Center, offers relief for children and families in poverty or facing excruciating economical downfall.
