Ruth Ezell traces the history of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. APA was founded in December of 1904 by black students at Cornell University. Within a few years the African-American based fraternity spread to other ivy-league schools across the country as well as other colleges and universities, such as Howard University, Lincoln University, etc.
